Comfort-rated to -60°F, the Extreme Softshell Jacket combines outerlayer, insulation, lining and a dual-zip system to ensure you stay warm in the coldest conditions.

Softshell materials are more stretchy and less bulky, meaning you get a higher level of flexibility than in other jackets, like those lined with down or packed with synthetics. It is highly water-resistant, exceptionally durable and very breathable, all key features for a hard-working jacket. Softshell materials also make it possible to create a more form fitting jacket since the outershell adds to the total insulation of the garment without adding the bulk of more internal insulation.

Softshell clothing is great for aerobic activities where a highly breathable, water-resistant piece of clothing can keep the wearer warm, dry and active. The softshell material allows perspiration to evaporate and keeps you dry, so sweat doesn't affect your warmth. It is especially good for activities where your heart rate will be elevated like hiking or doing tough outdoor jobs in cooler weather.

Features to Keep You Warm and Dry

The Extreme Softshell Jacket features waterproof pockets on the chest and sleeve to help keep your valuables, such as cell phones, dry and out for the weather.

The dual front zipper system allows you to regulate temperature, seal out drafts and access an inner pocket without completely unzipping the jacket. When you want to let a little more air in, simply unzip the outer zipper the desired amount while the inner zipper still provides protection from drafts and the cold. Zip both for maximum protection.

The back, sleeves and chest of the Extreme Softshell Jacket feature reflective piping to help you stay more visible in low-light conditions. The safety feature shines brightly whenever hit with beams of light, as from a car or headlight on construction equipment/forklifts.

An adjustable inner waist seal helps prevent drafts or snow from entering the jacket at the bottom. The seal includes two snaps for adjustment as well as elastic to help create a better seal.

The internal silver twill lining reflects body heat to keep warmth inside instead of letting it all escape. The smooth surface also makes it easier to wear over other garments without snagging.

    This jacket has got to be the warmest and most comfortable jacket on the planet. I just received mine today, and worked up a sweat trying it on. I ordered the polar force parka earlier, and had to choose which one to send back, I chose to keep this extreme soft- shell jacket, because it's warmer, and fits better than the parka. Don't get me wrong, the polar force parka is definitely a 5 star jacket also, the fact is, I simply don't need 2 jackets. If you get cold in this extreme soft-shell jacket, you had better check your pulse to see if you're still alive. Actually, I came very close to spending a boat-load of money on a very expensive Canada Goose expedition parka, which sells for approx. $1500. it was only after a very exhaustive search, that I discovered this closely guarded secret, and now, I'm very happy with every aspect about this purchase. Refrigiwear, you have just gained a customer for life, and I can't thank you enough for turning out such a remarkable jacket, at a price that blows all of those other manufacturers out of the water.

    I am a sanatation worker this coat is very warm an flexible too .I am ale to throw garage in truck with no problems . The coat is so warm I only wear a thermal tee shirt underneath!

    I have a serious problem with being cold. It started after substantial weight loss a few years ago. Being almost 70 is probably also a factor. I'm cold at any temperature under 80 degrees. I've been out for walks in a $500.00 Ski Jacket when it's 45-55 degrees, wearing a polyester base layer under it & was still cold & had to cut my walk short. I do not use this jacket for working outside. When I first tried on this jacket, I thought it was too thick & heavy. Well, it does feel rather heavy when you're holding it, but not when you're wearing it because the weight is distributed on you. It is rather bulky, but it would have to be to protect from temperatures near zero & below. You wouldn't want to play basketball or golf in it because it would be too restrictive, but for my purpose, it's perfect. Today, I wore it for the first time on my 30-minute walk. It wasn't very cold today--only 50 degrees, but I was warm enough to complete my walk & I left the jacket open. Those built-in gloves are really great & they are more durable than the ones on my "Spyder" jacket that costs twice as much as this one. And I didn't need the car heater on, either. I'm waiting for their lighter Fleece-type sweaters to become available in my size.
