I had reservations about buying these boots because, while they say they are "hikers," they are not really for hiking. I guess you could, but you wouldn't want to put 7 - 8 miles of trail under you with these. Pros: Really, really warm. The 800g Thinsulate works like it is supposed to. I had them out several mornings when the temps dropped to into the low teens and these boots kept my feet really toasty. They are comfortable on your feet IF you aren't walking around a great deal. If I was working in the yard all day in the cold going from front yard to back then these would be great. The grip on the sole is the best I've ever experienced in a boot. We had an ice storm which covered everything in, well, ice, and while walking my dog for a mile on ice I only slipped once. Amazing grip on ice! I have no doubt they are waterproof. As long as you don't drop your foot into a creek over the tops you'll stay dry. They have a great look. The brown/black/orange work well together to make a nice looking boot. Cons: These are hikers only in the cut and look, but are not really for hiking. There is a slip at the heel each step which, after many miles of trail, would tear your feet up. Also, real hiking boots have the spur at the back to place snowshoes on, and a "D" ring on the front of the laces for gaiters. These have neither. The laces are through eyelets and not quick release hooks. This makes them more difficult to really cinch up for a tight fit. The laces are also inexplicably long. There were no reviews for these boots when I ordered them so I knew that I was taking a chance. The 800g Thinsulate tipped my choice because I'm often out hiking/snowshoeing in temperatures either side of zero. For the cold and grip these boots are fantastic. For a day of hiking they are not. These will be my work around the yard in the cold boots, but I won't be taking them with me up into the mountains.

True to size, purchased size 5 in men for my 6.5 feet. I work outside on the ramp with airplanes in Detroit, Minnesota and North Dakota. Very cold temperatures that freeze my feet, hence buying these shoes. Fantastic safety colors and love the reflective lining. Shoes can use better laces. Quick shipping and outstanding customer service. I returned Black Widow shoes for women and bought these ones. Thank you RefrigiWear for making safety gear for us in super cold environments.

I wear these in the snow and they keep my feet dry and warm

the boots are warm and its very well made is almost a year with them and still good. the only complaint I make is that they are slippery in some certain floors.

I'm waiting to try them out in the freezer but I'm sure they will work. Looking forward to buy more products here. Thanks!!!

I have wore them for a couple a months now. They are a very warm and well made shoe but for me they are not comfortable for me to wear , have try and put in a new insole into the boot for more padding but still didn't help. After a few hours of wearing them at night at in the freezer they start to hurt my feet. May be it just me , but I really wanted them to work for me.

I work in a -15 degree F. Freezer. These shoes are AWESOME, Keeps my feet warm all day. I do wish, the Shoe laces were better. They would always come loose. Now I just double knot.\nOver all it's a good Insulated shoe. I have purchased all of the Polar Force Gear.
